Steps for Block Paving Installation
To ensure our customers are fully informed about each stage of their block paving installation in Essex, we follow a straightforward seven-step process.
- Free Site Survey – We begin by measuring the area to be paved, conducting necessary risk assessments, marking out the site, evaluating drainage options, and finalizing the desired appearance with you.
- Excavation – Before starting any work, we check the area for gas, water, and utility lines. Our team at Paverose Driveways & Landscaping handles all groundworks, ensuring proper preparation. We dig to the required depth and lay a porous membrane to prevent the sub-base from mixing with the underlying ground, creating an ideal surface for laying bricks.
- Sub-base – We lay a sub-base at least 4 inches deep to comply with all relevant regulations. Depending on your project’s specific needs and drainage requirements, we use either Mot type 1 or recycled crushed concrete.
- Kerbs & Edging – Edging is installed on a solid concrete base to ensure long-term stability. While not always necessary, edging can enhance the decorative appeal of your block paving driveway.
- Drainage & Manholes – We install durable stainless steel metal linear drains to ensure proper drainage and longevity. Existing manholes are replaced with recessed ones to maintain the look and provide essential access to the drainage system.
- Block Laying – Once the base is screened, we lay the blocks in the pattern of your choice.
- Final Finishing – To complete the installation, we compact the blocks and fill the joints with kiln-dried red sand. This step secures the blocks in place, ensuring your surface is stable and ready for use.
